Romy Leclerc LL.B.
Me Romy Leclerc (She/Her) is a fully bilingual (French-English) lawyer whose practice focuses on family law, child protection, police misconduct and access to justice in Nunavut and Nunavik. A settler of European ancestry, she lives and works on the unceded and unsurrendered traditional territory of the Omàmìwìnini Anishinàbeg Nation and is committed to providing culturally informed and accessible legal services.
Romy has built a diverse legal career spanning both criminal and family law. She previously served as a Crown Prosecutor in Nunavut, where she handled complex criminal matters and worked closely with victims, witnesses, and community partners. She has also developed a strong practice in family law and youth protection, representing clients in parenting, child welfare, family violence, and other family-related matters across the province of Quebec.
Through her work in the North, Romy has developed a strong understanding of Inuit societal values and the principles of Inuit Qaujimajatuqangit (IQ). She is committed to providing legal representation that is both culturally responsive and grounded in empathy, ensuring her clients receive practical and compassionate support during challenging times.
Romy has received several academic distinctions and has broadened her perspective through international experiences in Africa, the United Kingdom, and Central America. She is also actively involved in her community, currently serving as Treasurer of the Law Society of Nunavut and contributing to initiatives aimed at improving access to justice in northern and Indigenous communities.
