Who’s Marrow Law LLP?

At Marrow Law LLP, we serve Indigenous and non-Indigenous people across Canada and beyond, with law practices in Nunavut, Manitoba, Alberta, Ontario, and Quebec. Our team, which is made up of both Indigenous and non-Indigenous professionals, provides respectful, culturally informed legal services that honour the diverse experiences of our clients, and centre Indigenous experiences and perspectives.

We are seeking a Receptionist who can provide phone services that are accessible, kind, and clear. If you join our team, you will welcome prospective clients by phone and direct them through our firm’s intake process. Our ideal candidate has a high capacity for challenging conversations - our clients call in from all backgrounds and our mission is to provide equitable legal support.

Is this not your first rodeo? Are you a parent or do you have other cool and challenging life experiences that have left you with really great communication skills and solid boundaries? Do you have both strong verbal and written communication skills? If so, we would love for you to apply.

Please read this entire listing before applying.

What you’ll do:

  • Answer our very busy phone line between approximately 9am - 5pm Central (exact hours negotiable but must be daytime Central and consistent), Monday - Friday.

    • Our clients range from corporations to community organizations, to high status individuals, to everyday people, to people who are incarcerated or charged with criminal offences.

  • Add prospective clients’ information to our digital practice management software so our lawyers can consult with them.

  • Route clients on to speak with lawyers.

  • Create call back appointments in lawyer’s calendars with clients.

  • Provide administrative assistance and general office duties as required, when you’re available between phone calls.

What we’re looking for:

  • Fluency in English (spoken and written) is required.

  • Written/spoken French and/or Inuktitut is a significant asset that will be compensated accordingly.

  • ASIST (Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training) is an asset (you are unlikely to use this day to day, but the skills can be transferable).

  • Applicants are required to be able to learn new digital applications efficiently.

  • Demonstrated ability to communicate professionally and kindly. The call volume is high and we expect the Receptionist to communicate kindly, with strong boundaries and the ability to guide the conversation.

  • Detail-oriented, including the ability to identify and correct numerical or spelling errors.

  • Strong ability to communicate well with others in a working environment, including asking for help, adapting to constructive feedback, and taking accountability.

Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Accessibility

We strongly encourage applications from those in the Indigenous and Two-Spirit communities.

At Marrow Law, we are committed to fostering a diverse and inclusive workplace. We welcome and encourage applications from individuals with lived experience and diverse backgrounds, including Indigenous Peoples, members of the 2SLGBTQ+ community, persons with disabilities, visible minorities, and individuals experiencing economic hardship. We value the unique perspective and experiences that each person can bring to our firm.

Applicants are encouraged to self-identify in their application if they belong to any of these groups. Marrow Law is dedicated to providing reasonable accommodations to individuals with disabilities during the recruitment process and throughout their employment. If you require accommodations, please contact us, and we will work with you to meet your needs.
